Alberta Fashion Week
442 McAdam hit the runways to debut our Spring/Summer 2010 collection – where did we do it? At the birthplace of the line of bags, Calgary, Alberta. Alberta Fashion Week far exceeded everyone’s expectations. It was a week dedicated to local and national design collections, including Project Runway’s Camille Prins’ line Dutch Blond, and newcomer Lael. The highlights of the week for me included the Caitlin Power collection (very mature for a young designer – she’s going places), Lael Osness’ collection called Lael (wonderful 50s-inspired styles, pencil skirts, shoulder detail, I’m astounded that this is not only Lael’s first collection, but also that she is completely self-taught), Dutch Blond by Camille Prins’ mix of hippy and glamour, and Kyle Nylund’s dazzling show of spectacular pieces you could only dream about.
442 McAdam’s Spring/Summer 2010 runway show had some added spice to it – with purse-snatches and catfights, the audience took notice. It was wonderful to take part in what will surely be an ongoing and successful bi-annual event. Congratulations to the AFW team for putting together this wonderful event. Thank yous to:
